    I actually work for verizon. I did this as instructed and it worked great. Then i went into our billing system and checked to see if i was getting charged. I can say without a doubt that if done right you will not get charged for this.

    This is a dumb question I know.

    But when doing this, I took off the subscription after the backup.

    And then when I stuck it back on, in Media it shows i've got the subscription?

    Is this normal? Most likely is just wondering though.

    Can anyone tell me the exact essential navigator files that i will need so i can paste them from my desktop to my phone? I'm not able to paste the whole brew.zip...

    while restoring the brew.zip file i got the message: "LG-VX11000(enV Touch) on COM10: The phone is not responding while manipulating the filesystem."

    Or any other ideas? thanks.

    to djgreen69 i had that same issue, i had to switch form an XP machine to a windows 7 computer, it worked fine after that, i but windows vista would work too. im not sure on the cause of it. the computer that gave me the message was kinda old.

    Now I have done this for both the navi and e-mail thingy and I can confirm this works without being charged. Make sure you do this in a timely manner otherwise they might think something of it. (cross fingers) Now I do have a question that might be odd. What about the games you can download for a monthly subscription, will they fall under this way "by-passing the system" so to speak?

    I got a question. I dont have a data plan and was wondering once you have the navigator subscription cancelled and you use the application, does it cost money or use data or whatever to run the app? Thanks.

    Are there any apps or games this won't work with? I know it works with single player games like ms pac man, but would it work with something like Wallpaper Universe Premium or the weather apps (weatherbug, my-cast, etc)?

    i tried to hack, followed the instructions to a T. but when i turn off my phone and back on, to to media & try to locate the vz navi is no where to be found ???? i try to open nav, as if i was going to resubscribe...and nothing. it wont open the app. just keep trying to load it.
    did verizion catch on & put a block on ?
    i need help please.

    to add more apps, this is done incrementally? right? in other words, there will be a different brew back up all the time? so you might save brew1, brew2, brew3, etc.?

    looking through the log file, i saw no mention of vvm, but i could see everything else..must be in a different folder

    Visual Voice mail is less an app and more a service. If you've read through some of the other threads you'll see no one has been able to hack it.

    i wonder if you could find vvm in a folder of the phone, you could do the same thing? it still has to do a small d/l to run it, like city i.d.

    i seemed to have gotten the hack to work with all the preinstalled games..tetris, need for speed, resident evil, vznav, and city id...done for a while...dont want to try others so as not to raise an eyebrow

    I have personally tested this hack on ms pac man, megaman 3, do not disturb, city id (though my phone came with a demo of it), miles to go, and maxim mobile all of which work (both miles to go and maxim rely on a data connection). Note that I haven't had maxim and miles to go for more than a month so it's possible that they will cut you off once the subscription runs out (i.e. after one month) but I doubt it as people have been using wikimobile with that hack for a while now.

    Just did this. It seems to be working fine. Here's my question --

    If I wanted to add other apps (City ID, Mobile Email, etc.) - would I do the following?

    1. Download new app - subscribe
    2. Connect phone to Bitpim - backup BREW tree (which is the previously restored/hacked VZ Nav .zip files)
    3. Save as a new restore (Maybe "BREW - NAV - CITY ID)
    4. Unsuscribe
    5. Reboot, reconnect to Bitpim, restore

    That sounds logical to me but "hacking" phones is a new concept to me. Anybody done this and can verify this is the correct process?

    There are a number of apps/games that don't work with this hack. Scout around and you can find the ones that don't work and save yourself some aggravation.

    I do know that Tetris does not work with this hack. Also, this hack will come in handy as the new plans no longer include VZ Navigator so it is always $10 a month extra. Note that vcast video is an extra $10 on top of the $30 unlimited data.

    i have read about 2.5 pages on this forum and have read that pretty much anything under brose and download will work. first i want to confirm this. and second, i was wondering if anyone has found any games that have worked. and if so please list. one last thing is we should edit post 1 and put what will and wont work, so people dont have to read a bunch of junk to find out what works.

    I just got the env touch.. I only have the $10 data plan. So my question is if I do this hack and use vznavigator will I go over that 25mb a month if I use it a lot? I read on verizons site and it seems like it doesn't use your data if you have the app. But, I'm just double checking.

    Also, can anyone confirm if hacking city id is the same exact steps and method?

    I have an LG EnV Touch that I bought for my girlfriend. We activated it on Page Plus and there's no way to download VZ Navigator through the phone now. Is there any alternative to get the application? Anybody?

    All help would be deeply appreciated.

    this werks i called verizon after i had everything done and told them that my lil brother was playin with my phone and downloaded vz navigator.they said it was okay and they took it off but it will still show on the bill that i downloaded it but no charge..
    also i had a problem restoring everything..i seemed to stop where my ringtones were..so i unmarked all my ringtones and it went right through..if no one made a vid of it yet i will make one soon if you guys want..but it was really easy..

    please dont make a vid. why you ask? well cause its simple to do with out one. and more importantly if this info gets out, then verizon could start looking for a way to stop us from doing it. and if that happens, then the hack will be worhtless.

    I just put the VZ Nav back on my enV touch. Wondering how it is supposed to show back up on my phone. When I click on the VZ Nav it started right up with the updating. And I have the option of canceling the subscription again if I wanted to. Does that mean it didn't work? Is it supposed to show up in the browse & download as something I've downloaded or not?

    I was wondering if this still works for I followed your directions and still got charged for service also it says i can unsubscribe now? Im going to reinstall the zip file once more and see if it works again also is there any way to find out if you are charged for a service instead of waiting till the end of billing cycle? Besides calling

    you'll most likely be charged for the first month (like me), but you can call customer service to have them remove this charge if you unsubscribed before reloading the backed up brew directory. Just tell em you or someone accidentally downloaded the app. I haven't been charged for 4+ months after that initial charge.

    I got charged for the first month, I didn't call customer service to reverse it. Just checked my bill, no charge this month. Very Cool...I like it.

    Did the instal, l save the file, then the cancel sub. Seems to work. My question, When I log on to verizon and go into my account, view my plan, under additional features vz navigator shows up. Is that normal or did I do something wrong.

    yes. Here's what you did wrong: you asked a question without reading the 4 pages of answers that precede your question. what you did right is posting your question in the correct thread without starting a new one ... and it would seem that you correctly hacked your phone to get vz nav w/o paying for it more than once. if, in a month you get charged a second time, come back and read the 4 pages of answers.

    pay to prove the VZNavigator and only spend $ 2.99 and it does not work, I believe that why it has expiry date, it will try with that of $ 9.99 it is unlimited

    Does anyone know if this works with WeatherBug or the guitar tuner. I tried WeatherBug last week, but it still shows up as a subscription. I'm working on the tuner right now. I'll let everyone know if I can get it to work.

    I had weatherbug for a while but didn't like the app, it's just easier to either use the verizon homepage or the new vznavigator shows weather (which is pretty cool).

    You have to remember it takes like 24-48 hours for the online website to reflect any new changes. My vznavigator still says I'm not subscribed even though I have it (even did the v5 upgrade).

    OK.. so apparently I got charged...
    I did everything I was supposed to do...
    I downloaded the full app
    backed up the phone
    Cancel the subscription
    and restored the phone..

    After i did that I even called vz to make sure i wasnt being charged, bcs i told them it was accidentally downloaded on my phone. The vz guy told me that it wasnt showing up yet, so he left a note on my account to make sure i wasnt going to be charged. But today when I saw my bill, i was being charged :(
    So, today I called vz and the guy told me he couldnt do anything because the app still showed on my phone... I told him it was a mistake, because i did remove it. So, he told me to take into a vz store and have it checked.

    What should i do?..
    I was thinking, doing the same process again.. back up the phone again (this time with version 5) , then cancel the subscription. And then call again..
    Would that work?
    Coz the guy told me that, even if he removed the charge if the phone still has the app i will still get charged every month?

    so i dont know what to do...
    any suggestions?

    yeah i got in trouble with my parents (they paid the bill) and i did exacly what the hack sed to...i bought it then saved it using bitpim and canceled it i called vz just 2 make shure and they sed it was canceled. using bitpim i put it back on and they charged my phone still.....how can they do that? how is that possible?

    Does anyone have the original brew folder? I reloaded my old folders onto a new replacement phone, and now I can't get into my "Get New Applications".
    I'm thinking if I can reload the original brew folder it would fix it.

    Many of the folders contain information that is specific to the individual phone, you cannot just copy them from one phone to another. If you have been monitoring this site at all, surely you should have come across this issue. It is mentioned in almost every thread that discusses hacking or BitPim.
    If by any chance you backed up the original filesystem from your replacement phone, you should restore it, or you may find you have to go back to the store again.
