Ok. So since we all know that Verisign keys are unique to each phone, but what if: Several people copied everything from their phone via bitpima and compared all the files to find differences in the files, rule out anything that is different because of phone number, contacts, setting, etc. and then try thos to crack them?
ive been wanting to do this for a few months now but have been getting shut down haha. a database of Brew files (and other files) would definitely be beneficial to the hacking community. Even if it doesnt work, it would at least serve as a valuable learning experience for those who are interested. I wonder if it would be possible to upload files onto envtouch.org (maybe the admin andy could figure something out). I have no idea how websites work, but if there was a way to upload files here, i'd gladly be among the first to do so.
if anyone is familiar with wii hacking, i compared the raw code of a virtual console game from my system with the same game on my brothers system, and found a short segment of code that differed between the two games (this segment probably had something to do with the console-specificity of the game). I did not know how to use this information to my advantage, but it was fun investigating it. im sure there are genius env touch hackers out there that could work things out (if theyre not doing so already).
That is what I am saying. If we can dreate this database and get files compared and fing those different stings of code, we could possibly make "unmarked" or "clear, unsigned" versions and distribut them, then, once ou know your phones specific key, just edit the codes, put yours in, then dump it in your phone. If nothing else, we ight find a back door. and if it works... well then, guess what... We will have just cracked and hacked the BREW system which would be a huge breakthrough.
Has anybody contacted Andy about trying to set something up? I know he would be more than happy to work on it provided he has the time. I haven't seen him online though.
Peteywell. Did you ever find a place to store them. I was thinking like a page that had other sub pages for the different apps and files then a homepage with progress updates. Who's gonna be incharge of everything though?
I'm still looking. I know of a bunch of file storage sites, but they all have limits or only hold a few files. I guess to start we could use one of these, but we'll be limited by how much space there is. The only other options that I can think of are uploading them one at a time (which would be tedious), emailing them(the files might be to large), setting up a personal web-server (someone would have to devote part of their bandwidth), or, in my opinion the best, find some way to contact Andy and see if he can make a site or add a feature to this one. We could also see if their is anyone that would let share their server with us. Do you know how big the files from a phone would be?
I think a megaupload account has a 2 uploads/day limit, and the files can be up to 500mb. That should be plenty. It would take us quite a few days to get our files onto it, but once on, theyll be accessible to all who possess the account name and password. It'd be hard to keep track of who gets to upload what and when, but you could simply try when you have some free time, if it works, it works, if not wait a day and try again. We'd have to include file name, and as detailed a description of the files as possible. ALL system files would be welcome, but each of us could just upload our brew directories at first (mine is only 50mb, well under the 500mb limit). Just a possibility. I don't mind setting up a generic email (envtouchdotorg@yahoo.com), megaupload account name (again something like envtouchdotorg) and password (same thing). These accounts would be accessible by all in the community wishing to partake. But yeah, better ideas would be....uh...better?
You don't need usernames etc to post to megaupload, and the files are permanent. Also, there's no upload limit that I'm aware of. All you do is upload the file, get the link to it, and post it here. Easy. No need for all the extra hassle.
What about using megaupload, then starting a discussion on here and making it a sticky so its always on the front, and then just keep updatng it with progress on compareing files and new finds. GOtta start somewhere
I would like to make it a sticky, but I believe that Andy is the only one who can do that. If no one else starts an account in the next few hours, I'll start one for us.
Ok. I won't be able to upload anything till tommorrow afternoon and it would only be VZ nav. THats all I have though. Who is going to be a "Mod" for it. I would, but I don't have too much experience in the programming field.
DO you need an account to upload files. I'm not sure that this would be a problem, but with all of the traffic this site gets. I could imagine there being that one guy to upload a bunch of bull crap to the account to clog it up. Might I suggest not posting the info on the disscussion unless needed. Get back to me before you post it as I think we should just select the most active people on this thing.
Ok. What's your email? I made a gmail account to use as a registration for file sharing sites. I can send you the password and stuff. I'm in the process of making a Megaupload account with it at the moment.
Megaupload seems to have a large limit as well. I guess we can test both. EDIT: I like the custom layout of your site. I say we should use that once you get it working until we run out of space.
Ok. SO i think Ive got a little work aound found out. Anyone interested in uploading your own files, please post your "gmail" email address here and I will invite you as either collaborators or owners since we can't have everyone on one email account incase people want to upload at the same time. Plus, we'lll be able to hold chat/conference sessions to disscuss what we find. Just post your info.
yo dudes. my bad. just got a mac so have been messing around with that and not keeping up with all this good stuff. Count me in for the whole megaupload or whatever account/database is being made. al233833@muhlenberg.edu
