    Hey v941726,
Told ya. Patience paid off. I just got back from an 80 mile round trip to get the update. VZ Nav still works, menu theme lost but all contacts, vidoes, music still there.

I'm totally willing to go to a verizon store around here (there are tons close by) but I just want to wait until LG puts the update back up for download.
And about the people getting V09, I think I read somewhere that it was a typo on the verizon store's end or on LG's end.

Updated mine this morning at the VZ store. New web browser is a huge improvement, with one exception. It seems harder to select links on the external touch screen. However, I really like the pointer change on the internal screen when a selectable field is available. Folders to organize favorites is a nice add as well.

I took mine to the VZ store today to get upgraded to V08. They did it but opening the browser crashed my phone. They had updated all of their stock to V08 also and all of the other phones had the same problem. They told me they would credit me my data plan until it's fixed. I said 'or you could just give me a Droid'...and they did!

i have a very hard time believing that. there was a two or three month period where i tried anything and everything to get them to give me a different phone. best i got was a new touch. if an employee at verizon just GAVE you a droid because the update for version 8 crashed your web browser he must have been like a second grade dropout

I don't know what to tell you but it did happen. I was surprised as well. The VZ store in my hometown is actually pretty good and I have had nothing but positive experiences there over the years. I think part of it was that they couldn't give me another env touch because they upgraded their entire stock to v08 all of which rebooted on browser launch so their only other option was to give me my phone back with v08 and a non-working browser.

so they just gave you a brand new droid? like you didnt even have to take out your wallet or anything? if thats true you need to consider yourself the luckiest sob on the planet, and i need to take a road trip to your home town to get my free droid

yea pretty much. i had to change my plan from my 'connect' plan to a smartphone plan but that ended up being pretty much the same monthly fee. i asked about the cost of the phone and she said she would just treat it like a warranty replacement. i believe she was the store manager so that might have helped.

yeah i pay the $30/mo data fee. my plan changed from the 'connect' plan ($69) + txt package to the 450min smartphone plan ($39) + txt package + data fee ($29). my contract did not change though. 1yr contract that ends sept '10.

I just got my Env Touch updated to V08 at the store in Utica, Michigan. It took about a half hour but when i was sitting there, i was listening to to customers....every single complaint was about the data plan. Im glad I get to keep my connect plan for another 1.5 years. I will say the browser update/upgrade makes a data plan worthwhile.

Im on the Connect plan and I am now more than happy to pay 70 bucks a month.

Polaris7 is far far better than the Obigo browser. Everything is faster and smoother.

I was playin around with some of the smartphones while I was in the store and I will say I was tempted to get one out of contract. But i cant justify paying 100 bucks a month for a smartphone that uses the same amount of data that my Env Touch does....not yet at least.

    @mortac8

The 'connect' plan includes unlimited text...

were you paying extra for a text package? If you were, get your money back.

    I pay about 67 bucks a month for my connect plan ( i have a 12% Discount)

i pay 200 for 4 lines with connect. they somehow managed to add 10 for vcast video, where before, it was included. sometimes it seems like a scam. see my post in verizon bill

So I'm going to get the in-store update today. Judging by this thread, seems like only 1 or 2 people have had issues with the in store update, while everyone else's was successful. If anyone's phone got royally F'd thru the in-store update, please post asap, otherwise ill be gettin the 08, woohoo. And as far as browser crashing goes, there is now a fix, yes? Pretty sure I saw the thread. Hopefully I won't need it tho.
